Weyerhaeuser BC Timberlands Certification
Introduction
The Certification Web site on Weyerhaeuser’s BC Coastal Timberlands Intranet is a key information tool. Contained within this site is Environment Management System Procedures, Emergency Response Plans, Job Safety Breakdowns, and Standard Operating Procedures for each division (or Timberlands Unit) within BC Coastal Timberlands.
Overview
Weyerhaeuser needed a tool to help them disseminate a large amount of information on a continuous and timely manner. At the same time it was essential that personnel within each of Weyerhaeuser’s divisions be capable of maintaining their respective information. In addition, all this information had to be reported to auditors on a regular basis. These were critical components that had to be fulfilled in order to achieve various international certifications.
Methods Used
I developed all of the branding, including Logo design and original graphics. HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Flash, and JavaScript were used in the design of the interface. Server side includes in combination with Flash navigation elements were used extensively in order to facilitate ease of maintenance.
Due to the sensitive nature of the information on this Web site and because this site is located entirely on Weyerhaeuser’s Intranet, it is not possible to link to the fully functional site. Instead I have provided a sample page for your perusal.
Results
When completed this Web site helped Weyerhaeuser achieve ISO, CSA, and SFI certifications in all six of it’s divisional operations. In addition, ten Weyerhaeuser employees were trained in maintaining their respective portion of the Web site.
