Introduction

The Nanaimo Airport, located centrally on scenic Vancouver Island, is a thriving and modern air transportation gateway that offers an extensive range of amenities to the travelling public and the aviation industry.

Overview

The Nanaimo Airport wanted a complete redesign of their existing Web site. They felt that the old site was too difficult and confusing to navigate and were seeking a more user friendly solution.

Methods Used

Cascading Style Sheets and PHP were employed to create the user interface. The site is built using a hybrid approach, in the sense that tables were used for the the basic structure, but CSS styles are used also in layout and appearance. The site is optimized for 800 x 600 display and is designed for usability first and foremost. Universal access, easy navigation, and a simple clutter free layout were most important to the Nanaimo Airport.

Results

The Nanaimo Airport has the Web presence they had envisioned. A site with all the qualities they were looking for, in addition I supplied them with several templates and provided their staff with training so they would be able to take care of ongoing maintenance.
