Introduction
Weyerhaeuser, BC Coastal Timberlands has operations that span the West Coast of Canada, including a combination of public and private land on Vancouver Island, the Queen Charlotte Islands and the BC mainland.
Overview
Weyerhaeuser uses it’s Intranet to disseminate information to it’s employees. Research results on various projects, operating procedures, policies, environmental guidelines, and HR issues are all posted on this Web site. This splash page was designed to greet first time visitors to the site.
Methods Used
Flash, Dynamic HTML, and JavaScript were used in the interface design. In addition, Cascading Style Sheets with absolute positioning were used extensively in the design of navigational elements. ASP and server side includes were used to facilitate ease of maintenance.
Due to the sensitive nature of the information on this Web site and because this site is located entirely on Weyerhaeuser’s Intranet, it is not possible to link to the fully functional site. Instead I have provided a sample page for your perusal.
Results
The Weyerhaeuser Intranet Web site is now a vital component to the day-to-day operation of BC Coastal Timberlands. Weyerhaeuser now has a Web site that meets their employee’s needs for timely information.
