Nanaimo Squash Club
Introduction
Nanaimo’s only member owned Squash and Fitness Club, promoting the game of Squash in BC. An elected board of directors is charged with the management of Nanaimo Squash Club and employs a full time manager to run the day to day affairs of the club.
Overview
The Nanaimo Squash Club wanted to re-design their existing Web site. They wanted not only to give it a new look but also to enhance the promotion of Squash--and therefore the club itself. In addition, they felt that it was important to provide more functionality for its existing members by providing features that were only accessible to club members.
Methods Used
Dynamic HTML, and JavaScript were used in the interface design. In addition, Cascading Style Sheets with absolute positioning were used extensively in the layout of each page. PHP was employed in the construction of the secured members only area of the site. PHP was also used to interface with the MySQL database of the members list contained within this secured area.
Results
The NSC now has the sophisticated Web site that it was looking for. A site that not only serves as a better promotional tool for the club, but also better caters to its existing membership.
